It is needed to indicate on a drawing sheet the method of projection (First angle (or) Third angle) in which the drawings are prepared.
SYMBOL OF ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION It is needed to indicate on a drawing sheet the method of projection (First angle (or) Third angle) in which the drawings are prepared. The standard symbol of orthographic projection is obtained as below: Consider a frustum of cone as shown in Fig. 9.14 (i). Its front view and left side view from the directions shown are given in Fig. 9.14 (ii). As we have seen earlier, in first angle projection the left side view is drawn on the right side of front view and adjacent to it. Hence the symbol of first angle projection is drawn as shown in Fig. 9.15 (i), keeping the left side view on the right side of front view. Whereas in third angle projection, left side view is drawn on the left side of front view as shown in Fig. 9.15 (ii).
