The position of a solid by refering its axis with respect to the reference planes can be given in any one of the following ways to draw the projections.
POSITION OF A SOLID The position of a solid by refering its axis with respect to the reference planes can be given in any one of the following ways to draw the projections. Note: Sometimes position of a solid may also be given with respect to the position of resting as i) Solid resting on its base. ii) Solid resting on any one of its faces, edges of faces, edges of base, generators, slant edges etc., iii) Solid freely suspended from one of its corners, edges, etc., The graphical representation (pictorial view) of different positions of solid with respect to the reference planes are given below : Position I : Simple Position (Axis perpendicular to one plane and parallel to other plane) Position II: Inclined to one plane and parallel to other plane Position III: Inclined to both the planes
