Plane Figure

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Plane figures (or) plane surfaces are two dimensional entities enclosed by straight lines or curves or both.

PLANE FIGURE

Plane figures (or) plane surfaces are two dimensional entities enclosed by straight lines or curves or both. A plane figure has only two dimensions, ie, length and breadth and it has no thickness. A plane figure is generally referred as simply `Plane' (or) Lamina' (or) Plate'.

A plane figure can be obtained by eliminating one of the three dimensions of a solid figure. Hence a thorough understanding on projection of plane figures is necessary to draw the projections. of solids, which is presented in next chapter.
