In practice an engineer come across a number of geometrical constructions such as construction of plane figures, solid figures, finding mid point of an arc, drawing a tangent to the circle and so on.
Chapter - 4 Geometrical Construction At the end of this chapter we will be able to : 1. Define Geometrical construction. 2. Listout the terms used in Geometrical construction. 3. Draw the Geometrical constructions like bisecting a line, bisecting an angle, drawing tangent to a circle etc., 4. Construct a regular polygon of given side In practice an engineer come across a number of geometrical constructions such as construction of plane figures, solid figures, finding mid point of an arc, drawing a tangent to the circle and so on. Hence an engineering student should be familiar with these kind of simple geometrical constructions. This chapter deals with the necessary geometrical constructions required to a student to study the advanced topics like projection of solids, section of solids etc., An overview of geometrical constructions studied in secondary education is presented in this chapter as a ready reference.
