The cylinders are actuators used to convert the energy of the fluid into reciprocating mechanical energy.

CYLINDERS

• The cylinders are actuators used to convert the energy of the fluid into reciprocating mechanical energy. The general symbols related to them are given below :

Outer rectangle - Represents the cylinder

Line with an arrow - Indicates the adjustable cushion

• Single-acting cylinder has one port and double-acting cylinder has 2 ports.

• Table 7.2 presents the various standard symbols used for cylinders.
