Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

The final layout of perspective projection is shown in Fig. 18.8, by looking the whole arrangements shown in Fig. 18.7 from the position of observer.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

In chapter 9, layout of orthographic projections was presented, Front view is drawn above the reference axis XY and the top view is drawn below the reference axis XY, where XY is the intersection of horizontal and vertical planes.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

To draw the perspective view of an object either by Visual ray method (or) Vanishing point method following are the required data with respect to the object and position of observer.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

Perspective view of an object can be drawn by any one of the following two methods: 1. Visual Ray Method 2. Vanishing Point Method

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

The important terms generally used in perspective projection are shown in Fig. 18.6. and are explained below.

Perspective Projection - Engineering Graphics

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

Perspective projections are mainly classified into three categories based on the relative position of the object with respect to the picture plane as below:

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

In perspective projection, the object is shown as it appears to the human eye, but the true shape and size cannot be seen.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

A perspective projection or perspective view is a drawing of any object as it appears to the human eye.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (b): Perspective Projection

Perspective projection is an another way of representing an object on a plain paper. So far we have seen orthographic projection and isometric projection.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (a): Isometric Projection

1. Draw an isometric view of a hexagonal prism having a base with 25 mm side and 65 mm long axis, lying on its face on HP with axis parallel to both HP and VP.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (a): Isometric Projection

While drawing isometric view from the available multiview orthographic projections, the following points should be followed.

Engineering Graphics (EG)

Subject and UNIT: Engineering Graphics: Unit V (a): Isometric Projection

This section deals with the isometric projection / view of combination of solids having two (or) more solids arranged one above an another (or) removed one from an another.
