The fundamental quantities of length, mass and time are measured in different units of systems.

SYSTEM OF UNITS

The fundamental quantities of length, mass and time are measured in different units of systems. There are four system of units used internationally as follows,


1. MKS unit system :

In MKS unit system the fundamental quantities of length, mass and time are measured in meter, kilogram and second respectively.


2. CGS unit system :

In CGS unit system the fundamental quantities of length, mass and time are measured in centimeter, gram and second respectively.


3. FPS unit system :

In FPS unit system the fundamental quantities of length, mass and time are measured in feet, pound and second respectively.


4. SI unit of system :

The SI unit system is also called as international system of units.

This system has six basic units, two supplementary units and twenty seven derived units as shown in table 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3.
