Mould is the cavity of the required shape made using moulding sand or other suitable materials.

SAND MOULD

Mould is the cavity of the required shape made using moulding sand or other suitable materials. The moulding process consists of all operations done to make a mould.

Pattern is the model of the required casting made in wood, metal or plastics. It is primarily used to produce the mould cavity in sand.

The important processes involved in foundry are:

a) Pattern making

b) Mould making

c) Casting.
