Mechanics

Introduction

Mechanics is the branch of physical science which deals with the state of rest or motion of bodies that are subjected to the action of forces.

Fundamental Concepts and Principles, Systems of Units.

Mechanics

• Mechanics is the branch of physical science which deals with the state of rest or motion of bodies that are subjected to the action of forces.

• It is subdivided into three parts: mechanics of rigid bodies, mechanics of deformable bodies and fluid mechanics.

• This book deals only with mechanics of rigid bodies (i.e. objects that do not get deformed when forces are applied).

• The mechanics of rigid bodies is further divided into two parts: statics and dynamics. Statics deals with bodies at rest. Dynamics deals with objects in motion.
