LAYOUT OF DRAWING SHEET The layout of drawing sheet is the standard form of arrangement to ensure that all necessary information for understanding the content of the drawing is included. The layout of drawing sheet shall mainly include borders and title block. The sizes of drawing sheets mentioned in the previous section refers the 'untrimmed' size of drawing sheets ie., the sizes of drawing sheets without margin (or border). Margin lines are to be drawn on all the four sides as per the standard specifications and an extra margin is left on the left side to facilitate easy filing and binding. The size of the drawing sheet actually available for drawing, ie., size of the drawing sheet within the margin is known as 'trimmed' size of drawing sheet. Top, Right and Bottom margins shall have a minimum width of 10 mm whereas the left margin shall have a minimum width of 20 mm to facilitate filing and binding as shown in Fig. 2.12. Title block is an important feature provided at the bottom right-hand corner of the drawing sheet to facilitate important information of the drawing like company name, (ie., consultant), owner of the drawing (ie., client), project location, type and name of the drawing etc. It is a rectangle of 170 mm x 95 mm (or) 170 mm x 80 mm size. It is divided into boxes, both vertically and horizontally to mark the details. A student may use size of title block in A2 drawing sheet as 160 x 60 mm as shown in Fig. 2.12 to write the particulars like, Name of the student, Roll No, Drawing sheet number etc., Suggested layout of titleblock for class work is detailed as shown below in Fig. 2.13.
