Engineering drawing is an art of representing an engineering object prepared with the objective of providing an exact geometrical configuration of the object.
Chapter - 2 Drawing Instruments and Sheet Layout At the end of this chapter we will be able to : 1. List out the Drawing instruments and their uses. 2. List out the sizes of drawing sheets as per B.I.S. 3. Describe the layout of drawing sheet and title block. 4. Fold the drawing sheet as per B.I.S. Engineering drawing is an art of representing an engineering object prepared with the objective of providing an exact geometrical configuration of the object. It consists of lines, curves, angles, arcs etc. which are drawn by the use of concerned drawing instruments. Though the engineering drawing has been largely automated now a days through the use of CAD systems, in olden days engineering drawings were prepared manually by the use of drawing sheet, pencil and necessary drawing instruments. It is universally accepted that the students will derive the fundamental concepts and a clear understanding on the geometric configuration of an engineering object while working manually by using drawing sheet and drawing instruments which will ensure them to prepare the drawings through the use of Computer Aided Drafting softwares later on with confident. This chapter deals with the description of drawing instruments which are commonly used in practice and the layout of drawing sheet.INTRODUCTION
