CONSTRUCTION OF PARABOLA BY RECTANGULAR METHOD 1. Base 2. Axis Example 8: Construct a parabola of base 80mm and axis 60mm by rectangular method. 1. Draw a rectangle ABCD of base 80mm and axis 60mm. 2. Locate the mid point of AB at O and draw bisector through O to cut CD at E. 3. Divide AD and AO into same number of equal parts (say 4) and name the parts as 1, 2 and 3 on AO from A and 1', 2′ and 3′ on AD from A. 4. Join the points 1', 2′ and 3′ with E. 5. Draw vertical lines through 1, 2 and 3 to cut D-1', D-2' and D-3' at P1, P2 and P3 respectively. 6. Join the points A, P1, P2, P3 and E by a smooth curve which is half of the parabola. 7. Repeating the same procedure on the right side of axis, the other half of parabola is constructed.Data known :
