APPLICATIONS OF FREEHAND SKETCHING

The art of representation of an object by a pencil without the use of drawing instruments is known as `Freehand sketching'. A freehand sketching is considered as a manuscript in literature prior to printing. Applications of Freehand sketching in engineering field are listed below.

1. The idea (or) thought regarding any new design, the designer at once records on a paper as a freehand sketch to develop it at a later stage.

2. While designing a new product, the designer use freehand sketches to explain his ideas to others.

3. Assembly and working (or detailed) drawings are prepared from the freehand sketches initially drawn by the designer.

4. Any change in the existing design (or) shape is communicated by the designer to the draughtsman by the help of freehand sketches.

5. During execution of any project the difficulty faced by the engineer in fabrication / work site is conveyed to the designer for the necessary corrections.

6. The parts to be taken for its repair and maintenance can be shown as a freehand sketch.
