TANGENT CAM WITH RECIPROCATING ROLLER FOLLOWER
• The
tangent cams are usually symmetrical about the centre line of camshaft.
• When
the flanks of the cam are straight and tangential to the base circle and nose
circle, then the cam is known as a tangent cam.
• Applications:
The tangent cams with roller followers are used for operating inlet and exhaust
valves of IC engines.
• Fig.3.53
illustrates a typical tangent cam with reciprocating roller follower. In
Fig.3.53, EG and 13 are two straight flanks of the cam, and O and O, are the
centres of base circle and nose circle respectively.
