REVIEW AND SUMMARY • In this chapter, the design of following hydraulic and pneumatic circuits for various applications are presented. 1. Hydraulic circuit for a drilling machine 2. Hydraulic circuit for a shaping machine 3. Hydraulic circuit for a surface grinding machine 4. Hydraulic circuit for a milling machine 5. Hydraulic circuit for a planning machine 6. Hydraulic circuit for press 7. Hydraulic circuit for forklift åpplication 8. Pneumatic circuit for pick and place robot gripper actuation 9. Pneumatic circuit for tool handling in CNC machine tool • The selection of hydraulic/pneumatic circuit components, criteria for selection of hydraulic/pneumatic components and system design of hydraulic/pneumatic circuits are presented in this chapter. • Low cost automation is defined as a technology that creates some degree of automation around the existing equipment, tools, methods and people, using mostly standard components available in the market. • A hydraulic power pack is a self-contained (stand-alone unit) that is used instead of built-in power supply for hydraulic machinery. • Components of a hydraulic power pack are: (i) a hydraulic reservoir, (ii) regulators; (iii) pressure supply lines and relief lines; (iv) a pump; and (v) a motor. • A pneumatic power pack is a self-contained (stand-alone unit) that is used instead of built-in power supply for pneumatic machinery. • Components of a pneumatic power pack are: (i) a motor, (ii) a compressor; (iii) an air cooler; (iv) an air dryer; and (v) a FRL unit.
