METHODS OF DEVELOPMENT Development methods are classified into four methods as below: 1. Parallel line method: This method is used when the surfaces of solid are generated by a line which moves parallel to the axis of the solid. Development of prisms and cylinders are drawn by this method. 2. Radial line method: This method is adopted when the surfaces of solid are generated by a line, one end of which remains stationary while the other end traces out any path. Development of pyramids and cones are drawn by this method. 3. Triangulation method: This method is suitable when the surfaces of solid can be imagined to consist of a number of triangles. Development of transition pieces and oblique solids are drawn by this method. 4. Approximate method: This method is adopted when the surfaces of solids are bound by double curved surfaces. Development of sphere is drawn by this method.
