HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT FOR A PLANNING MACHINE

1. Functional and Operational Requirements

The main difference between shaper and planer is that in shaper machine, the tool attached to the ram reciprocates and the workpiece is fixed on the table. Whereas in planer machine, the workpiece attached to the machine table reciprocates and the tool is held stationary.

Similar to surface grinding and milling operations, the planning operation also requires the continuous reciprocating of machine table carrying workpiece is required.

2. Circuit

For the planning operation, the hydraulic circuit similar to that for the surface grinding/milling operation can be employed. Fig.16.5 depicts a typical hydraulic circuit used in a planning machine.
