Hydraulic circuit for a milling machine

Functional and Operational Requirements, Circuit

Similar to surface grinding machine, in milling machine also the workpiece is clamped on the machine table and the machine table is made to reciprocate using the double-rod end type hydraulic cylinder.

HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT FOR A MILLING MACHINE

1. Functional and Operational Requirements

Similar to surface grinding machine, in milling machine also the workpiece is clamped on the machine table and the machine table is made to reciprocate using the double-rod end type hydraulic cylinder. In the milling machine, the workpiece is made to reciprocate against a rotating multipoint cutting tool i.e., milling cutter. Thus for milling operation, the machine table has to reciprocate continuously with same speed during both forward and return strokes.

2. Circuit

For the milling operation, the same hydraulic circuit used for surface grinding operation can be used. Fig. 16.4 depicts a typical hydraulic circuit used in a milling machine.
