In the preceding sections, we have discussed various single-actuator circuits.
II. DESIGN OF MULTI-ACTUATOR PNEUMATIC CIRCUITS In the preceding sections, we have discussed various single-actuator circuits. But most of the practical pneumatic circuits use multi-cylinders. They are operated in specific sequence to carry out the desired task. For example, to drill a hole in a component first we need to clamp and then drill. We can only unclamp the work, if and only if the drill is withdrawn away from the workpiece. Here sequencing of movement of clamp cylinder and cylinder that carries the drill is important. Therefore, proper coordination of events (drilling and clamping) and proper sequencing of actuators (drill only after clamping is done) are important in multi-cylinder applications.MULTI-ACTUATOR CIRCUITS
