A. Classification of pumps based on principle of operation 1. Non-positive displacement (hydro-dynamic) pumps, and 2. Positive displacement (hydro-static) pumps. B. Classification of pumps based on delivery 1. Constant delivery pumps, and 2. Variable delivery pumps. C. Classification of pumps based on motion 1. Rotary pumps, and 2. Reciprocating pumps.
