When the flanks of the cam connecting the base circle and the nose circle are of convex circular arcs, then the cam is known as circular arc cam.
CIRCULAR ARC CAM WITH FLAT-FACED FOLLOWER
• When
the flanks of the cam connecting the base circle and the nose circle are of
convex circular arcs, then the cam is known as circular arc cam.
• Like
tangent cams, the circular arc cams are symmetrical about the centre line of
the camshaft.
A
symmetrical circular arc cam, when the follower has contact with circular arc
flank is shown in Fig.3.54.
