In
this method, the acceleration of links in a mechanism are determined using the
following steps.
Step 1: Construction
of configuration diagram
Step 2: Calculation of
velocity of input link
Step 3: Construction
of velocity diagram
Step 4: Determination
of velocity of various links
Step 5: Construction
of acceleration diagram
Using
the velocity of various links that are obtained with the help of velocity
diagram, the values of radial and tangential components of acceleration of
various links can be calculated as shown in Table 2.1 below.

By using the known
values of magnitude and direction of acceleration components, the acceleration
diagram can be constructed.
Step 6: Determination
of acceleration of various links
By measurement from
the acceleration diagram, one can determine the acceleration of various links
of the given mechanism.
