Notations used:

L = Lift or stroke of the follower in m,

θO = Outward angle (or angle of ascent) in radians,

θr = Return angle (or angle of descent) in radians,

ω = 2π Ν/60 = Angular velocity of cam in rad/s, and

N = Speed of cam in rpm

Note:

1. In the above formulas, the values of angle θO and θr must be in radians


2. In the above formulas, (+) or (-) sign is used to indicate the direction of characteristics (see the velocity, acceleration and jerk curves in Figs.3.14, 3.17, 3.19 and 3.21 for better understanding).
